Presentation Guideline

Concurrent Paper Sessions
The typical session format comprises 3 x 30 minutes presentations as follows:

  • 15-20 Minute presentation by the author(s)
  • 5-10 Minutes question time

Guidelines for presenters:
To ensure we keep on schedule presenters should be in attendance at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the session in which they will be presenting.  This will enable them to introduce themselves to the session chair and ensure their presentation is appropriately loaded up and ready to go when it is their turn to present.

Time limits will be strictly enforced to ensure all presenters have an equal opportunity to present their work.

Guidelines for Session Chairs
The role of the session chair is both administrative and scholarly.

Administratively, session chairs are responsible for introducing presenters, ensuring presentations run to schedule and moderating Q&A.  Session chairs should be in attendance at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the session in which they will be presenting.  This will enable them to meet the presenters and ensure all are prepared to present.  Session chairs should strictly enforce time limits, both in fairness to all presenters, and to enable audience members to switch to alternative concurrent sessions with minimal interruption.

From scholarly perspective, it is the session chairs role to moderate and stimulate the debate and question time for each presentation.  There are no discussants assigned this year, so session chairs are asked to be familiar with all the papers in this session and be ready to spark debate and questions if necessary.  The session chair should encourage audience participation and constructive feedback and critique for the presenters.

Guidelines for Poster Presentations
The Poster Forums will run during the lunch breaks on Wednesday 2nd December and Thursday 3rd December.  There are 12 poster presentations, six each for each day.  Presenters will be advised of which day they have been assigned.

Posters should be no more than 100cm by 80cm in size.  They should clearly identify the title of the work and provide an appropriate description. Posters should not be heavily text laden, but rather more visual, to draw interest from conference participants. For guidance on how to prepare an excellent poster check out: http://www.ncsu.edu/project/posters/

Authors must be in attendance at their poster for at least 30 minutes during the course of the lunch break to answer questions and discuss their work. Pin boards and pins for affixing posters will be provided.
