Bachelor of Multimedia Systems (BMS)

No further first year intake from 2006 onwards - this degree has been replaced by the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems (Multimedia).

The Bachelor of Multimedia Systems replaces the Bachelor of Multimedia, the Bachelor of Multimedia Computing, the Bachelor of Multimedia Business and Computing. The course aims to produce graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential to the analysis, design and implementation of multimedia products, services and systems. Students can choose from four possible majors: applications; programming; enterprise; or games development. The course makes extensive use of studio mode learning.

The degree has four optional majors, for selecting a specialisation in:

  • Applications
    Traditional multimedia applications: content creation, digital sound and video, 3D and interactive media.
  • Enterprise
    Contemporary business topics such as marketing, accounting, management and e-commerce.
  • Games Development
    Development of computer games, from conceptual design through to low-level 3D engine programming and interactive techniques.
  • Programming
    Coding, analysis and design; object-oriented concep ts, web programming, windows programming, commecial environments.

If a student choses to specialise in one of the above majors and if the course requirements for that major have been met, the student will be awarded a tagged degree, ie.
