Challenging Information Access: Privacy Seminar

Digital and networking technologies, and associated profound organisational and social change, are challenging traditional models, frameworks and practices in which librarians, archivists, records managers and other information professionals manage and control access to information. Barbara Reed's presentation explores the far-reaching implications of WikiLeaks, including its impact on the politics of information, and the challenge it poses to the traditional role of archival and library institutions in our society. Living Labs and Digital Doorway in South Africa: Partnership Opportunities in Australia and the Pacific

The purpose of this research forum is to highlight Meraka's current activity in South Africa as well as work that Monash is currently undertaking around social-technical skills and knowledge transfer into Australia and the Pacific region, and to explore opportunities for partnership with Meraka and other organisations. This forum was presented at the Clayfield Room, Caulfield campus on 17 May 2011.

Archives and Indigenous Human Rights Workshop

Towards an understanding of the archival and recordkeeping implications of Australian and international human rights for Indigenous Australians. This workshop was presented at Rydges Hotel, Melbourne on 12 October 2010.

Information Management Skills Crisis: Educating Information Professionals for the 21st Century

This seminar was presented by Janet Prowse, Queensland State Archivist. Janet received the Australian Society of Archivists Margaret Jennings Award for the Most Outstanding Graduate of the Archives and Records Program at Monash 2008. 20th November, 2009.

The Centre for Organisational and Social Informatics (COSI) in conjunction with the Centre for Australian Indigenous Studies (CAIS) and CASTAN Centre for Human Rights Law Research Forum: Human Rights and Indigenous Archives conducted this Forum on Human Rights. 7th August, 2009

COSI Workshop - Community-centred Research: Working with Communities

The focus of the two day workshop was research that is grounded in working in partnership with communities to define research aims, methods and outcomes which are centred on community values and needs. We discussed how to develop and maintain collaborations which reposition ‘research subjects’ as partners in and co-producers of research and heard examples of how this can be achieved. 16th April, 2009.

COSI forum IT for Social Inclusion

COSI will host a forum from 2-5pm on Friday 15th August 2008, preceded by lunch and followed by farewell drinks for Eric Ketelaar. The purpose of the forum, which will be facilitated by Eric, is to explore the research theme IT for Social Inclusion as a possible FIT-led research platform for Monash. 15th August, 2008.

Research Roundtable Forum

The Monash Centre for Organisational and Social Informatics will be hosting a research forum where researchers will have an opportunity to discuss their research agendas for 2007. Featured will be a presentation by Professor Eric Ketelaar discussing his current involvement in a mapping project relating to archival research needs. 29th March, 2007.

The Monash Centre for Organisational and Social Informatics proudly presents, in collaboration with the UCLA Center for Information as Evidence and the Memories, Communities, Technologies Network, Pluralising the Archival Paradigm - Archival Education and Research Training Needs of Indigenous and Minority Communities: A Workshop for Invited Participants. 21st - 22nd March, 2007.
