Summer Semesters (A and B) and Term 4 enrolments in Faculty of Information Technology units will open on the 1st September 2009.
Summer Semesters (A and B) cover teaching in the period December 2009 to February 2010 and special fees arrangements apply, click here for further details. Summer Units are offered on a full fee paying basis.
Standard semester fees apply to Term 4 enrolments. These periods run from October 2009 to December 2009 and are not considered part of summer semester. However, the Units Offered/Timetable includes these units for your convenience.
Any reference to "Summer Semester" in this page also applies to Term 4, except where information relates to fees.
Visit your Home School Office to obtain and submit your Enrolment Amendment Form. All Summer enrolments are completed manually and cannot be done via WES.
Students can enrol and discontinue in Term 4 units via WES up until the 4th of October 2009. After that date all enrolment amendments must be completed manually and cannot be done via WES.
It is a student responsibility to check for prerequisites and prohibitions that apply to units. Although two units may be prohibited with one another, this does not imply that they are equivalent units. IT students are reminded that, although approval signatures may not be required on the Enrolment Amendment Form, it is a student responsibility to obtain course advice to ensure summer units will be credited towards their degree.
Students are encouraged to enrol in summer units as soon as possible as this will help to prevent units being cancelled due to low enrolment numbers.
There is no formal closing date and enrolments will be accepted until the start of teaching. Lecturer approval will be required for enrolment in a unit where classes have already commenced.
Please refer to the 'Units Offered/Timetables' page for specific discontinuation dates for IT units. Please also refer to the 'Important Dates' page for further information on discontinuing from units. It is a students responsibility to discontinue by the applicable date.
The Faculty of IT recommends students study no more than two units in any one summer calendar period. Some summer units are taught in ‘intensive teaching mode’ and are very demanding scholastically.
You can obtain a "Single unit and Cross-institutional study application form" from any IT campus or you may download the application from http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/service-centre/forms/
Please refer to http://www.monash.edu.au/exams/summer-student.html for examination details.
Units may be cancelled if there are insufficient teaching resources or enrolments. If a unit is cancelled, all enrolled students will be advised via email and discontinued by the relevant School prior to the commencement date of the unit.
